Maine Shoes and Accessories
When it comes to footwear, Castlemaine’s Maine Shoes and Accessories has stood the test of time. This year the shoe shop on 174 Barker Street has been in the business of fitting our feet for 130 years.
Husband and wife team – Neil and Carina Bouch run their quality footwear and accessories business which has served as a boot and shoe shop since 1887 when it was first held by Mr Nicholas Cock.
“We took over the business in December 2015,” Neil says. “We’re loving it. You get to meet a lot of interesting people and hear the stories they have to tell.”
“We try to keep abreast of the fashions and are guided by our reps,” Neil continues. “Back in 1917 Mr Cock made the decision to only stock quality products and that’s something that has continued here today.”
Neil and Carina are longstanding members of the community and November has been a busy month for them. They partook in the Carinya Shopping Night which offered 20% off to customers on the tour. They ran a “Girls Night In” which raised $600 for cancer research plus they had a big day of celebrations for their 130th year with special offers to mark the occasion.
