BMA are very excited to announce that Maldon’s Old Bank Corner has been recognised as a finalist in this year’s Mainstreet Australia Awards for Best Regional Main Street. Unsurprisingly, the judging panel were very interested to hear how communities had responded to COVID safety requirements. The Old Bank Corner provides outdoor seating in the centre of town, beautifying a challenging space, using repurposed historic industrial materials and creating a central meeting focus for the town’s CBD, including a performance stage.
Special recognition goes to Castlemaine’s Salvage Yard, Maldon Inc and Kate Gamble for their work with Mount Alexander Shire Council in making this project possible.Mainstreet Australia Award winners are announced in October. Stay tuned.
